29 Years ago today....Where was I?

There are days in our lives that we will never forget no matter what.

Two of the most special days in my life were the days my girls were born. Every year when their birthday approaches I reflect on where I was and what I was doing and thinking the day before they were born.

May 2, 1978
We lived in Foster City and I commuted to Oakland each day working in our company, Kennedy Sales Company.

I went to the Dr. on May 1st and they told me the baby was small. Dr. Rosensweig, my OBGYN said that since my due date was April 15th if I didn't go into labor within the next day or so they would have to induce labor. Well, that night my labor began and she was born the next day. Karyn was 9 lb. 10.5 oz!

In those days, we didn't know what we were having. We had decided that if he were a boy we would name him Michael Scott. If she were a girl her name would be Karen (Garvin) after Jack's Mother's side of the family.

A few hours after she was born, I just didn't feel like Karen suited her. So....we changed her name to Ka-Ryn. She was so sweet and tiny, even though she was almost 10 lbs.

The next day the nurses came in and told me they were moving me to a private room where they would be serving Jack and I a special private dinner together with our new daughter. We had a wonderful steak dinner over looking the SF airport and all the night lights of the bay area up on the hill in Burlingame at Penninsula Hospital.

That was the beginning of our lives with our little Karyn. Kelly and Daddy came the next day to bring us home. Kelly was so excited that she kissed her sister all the way to the car.

Happy birthday Karyn. I was blessed the day your were born. Thank you for all you have given me in your special, unique ways. You are a beautiful daughter, wife and mother to your daughters.

Enjoy your last year in your 20's!!
